You often hear this from people who have an almost religious idea of evolution as being a straight, progressive march towards organic sophistication. A genetic bottleneck could of course cause AI advancements and biotechnology to affect human evolution, but likely in the manner of humans having to rely on this technology for survival or reproductive success.
