What the hell!? So this guy likes to work on PCs and has 2 of his own and then they [cops] see him with "unknown machines" and he's committing a crime...!? How lame and yet it's our tax money at work. Unforetunately, (if I'm not mistaken) most campus cops are 'state deputies'. I know this as I challenged one of them before for running a stop sign and getting a ticket for it. $15 for the fine but $18 for the processing. What a bunch of crap! It must have pissed him off enough for him to give me the ticket.

They do have a vehicle for that. It's called the TIV or Tornado Intercept Vehicle. I live in the Midwest (one of the states mentioned above) and we heard (and saw) that the TIV was passing by last May when a F2 tornado tore through city. If your curious, the vehicle is featured on a show called Storm Chasers on Discovery. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_Intercept_Vehicle

Yes, I heard that Quebec was pretty bad but you know, planes falling out of the sky would require pilots not paying attention and as for the on-board computers that control our vehicles, heaven forbid, we'd have to ride bicyles... So to recap, pilots will fly manually, we can ride bikes, who cares about your cell phone..that's probably a blessing to most people, there was life before the internet, and landlines...the only person probably crying in their grave would be Pa Bell. Life would really suck, but we'd get thru it.

Adobe Adds GPU Acceleration To Creative Suite 4 246

arcticstoat writes "GPU computing has just taken a major step into the world of mainstream software development, as Adobe has now released a GPU-accelerated version of its Creative Suite, comprising Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro. Both Premiere Pro and After Effects only support GPU features on Nvidia's professional range of Quadro GPUs, but Photoshop CS4 allows GPU acceleration on any mainstream GPU that supports Shader Model 3.0 (such as Nvidia's GeForce 6200 series of GPUs). Built on OpenGL, Photoshop CS4's GPU features allow real-time rotation of images and accelerated zooming and panning. As well as this, Photoshop CS4 also uses the GPU for anti-aliasing on text and objects, and it can tap the GPU for brushstroke previews, HDR tone mapping and colour conversion."
