And if they're being picked up by two separate trucks yet ending up in the same landfill anyway then not only has recycling failed to reduce waste, but "recycling theater" has probably made it worse through the inefficiency of running an unnecessary truck all over town. Recycling is a good idea and worth getting right, but my impression is that our current execution (on average) is more about reducing consumer-guilt than actually reducing waste.

Yeah I definitely debated switching to the $149/yr option, because I kinda do expect to wear this thing out for the next 5 or 6 years. Hmm, may end up regretting that decision. Might see about switching that plan now that you've got me chewing on it a little more.

Yeah, that's a great point. I've been chewing on it more and realized that for the most part you're still creating the same models and textures to flesh out the action/sets and just recomposing to taste. Thanks for having an actual conversation, btw.

Eh, it was just a hunch and I'm totally fine with being wrong. At a certain point with VFX it doesn't cost much to increase resolution for bigger displays like IMAX, but not having to build out the VFX an extra 20% in a movie with a 4 hour runtime probably shaves significant budget in an FX-heavy film. But Zack Snyder seems to major in the minors, so putting a stake in the ground to do XYZ for "artistic reasons" (ie. 1.33, gray scale, pointless yet beautiful slomo, etc) is I'm sure a more marketable justification.

My suspicion is that using the 1.33 aspect ratio saved on VFX and other post-processes.

Yep, I would peruse the reviews even if I didn't leave any, but I mostly miss their great 5 star rating system and how well it tied to their algorithm. It was pretty accurate and uncovered some films I probably would've missed, it also was a quick way to recommend films by looking at my ratings. I think they changed it because they knew their in-house productions would get crushed by it.

Agreed. This /. post was entirely useless and uninformative coming 5 months after the outbreak. It barely would've been useful in late March.

Totally agree. I'm a creative director for an immersive tech agency and projects have only been picking up to create business-centric content. Take a tour of an international office, enhanced training, awareness games for drivers to spot pedestrians and bicyclists, etc etc. There are a lot of uses and I think this will continue to be a slow adoption, maybe that "killer app" will eventually hit, but it seems like slowly being exposed will widen the consumer base until it's just suddenly everywhere. I tested a new headset this week by a Chinese startup (Pico, I think) that shifted the weight of the headset to a more even distribution, and made big software changes to solve business VR problems that Oculus hasn't deemed worthy. Things like pushout out updates and syncing playback between headsets are looking much easier.
