It worked for a good five seconds... They just need to come up with a more 'air-tight' mouse.

Speaking of which, they should come up with an underwater mouse that uses miniature "turbine" that lie on the same plane as the bottom of the mouse, but are orthogonal to each other! Then we can have underwater LAN parties as people used to have underwater tea parties.

Russia Aims Towards Mars 161

Iddo Genuth writes "Russia's Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) has announced its intentions to build a low-orbit space station which, according to the agency, will support future exploration of the moon and Mars. There's also a suggestion to extend the operational lifespan of the International Space Station by five more years, resetting its retirement date to 2020. The project proposal is already on its way for review by the Russian government. Some Russian sources also reportedly proposed the (rather ludicrous) idea of converting the ISS into some kind of an interplanetary transport vehicle, which would serve as the 'ultimate mother ship' in manned planetary missions to the moon or even Mars."

Wouldn't the decreasing cost of space (i.e Moore's Law) mean that eventually that their business market would be doomed, or would it mean that they're going to get away with making more money as more space becomes more cheaply available? The going price of a 500GB Seagate internal HD seems to be well between USD53.35 to USD176.00.

Granted that I should know better than to use Google as a reliable source of information; that means the cost/GB ranges anywhere between USD00.11 and USD00.36. I'm a bit too lazy to calculate the set mean and the set standard deviation, but it would come out to be just about equal (in cost) to using this new "cloud" or just a bit more expensive (by a couple cents). However, in the long run, it would be much cheaper to just buy a hard drive. I don't know who they're trying to fleece, really.

Plus, if you still have your wisdom teeth

I don't have them ... my dentist finally convinced me to have them removed a couple years ago.

Wasn't there something recently about making stem cells from normal (I think) tissue in the reproductive system?

Why must it always boil down to choosing between something cool and losing our fertility? :(

Ericsson and Intel Offer Remote Notebook Lockdown 105

MojoKid writes "Ericsson and Intel have announced that they are collaborating on a way to keep your laptop's contents safe when your laptop goes MIA. Using Intel's Anti-Theft Technology — PC Protection (Intel AT-p) and Ericsson's Mobile Broadband (HSPA) modules, lost or stolen laptops can be remotely locked down. Similar to Lenovo's recently announced Lockdown Now PC technology, the Ericsson-Intel technology uses SMS messages sent directly to a laptop's mobile broadband chip. Once the chip receives the lock-down message, it passes it to the Intel AT-p function, which is integrated into Intel's Centrino 2 with vPro technology platform. Unlike Lenovo's anti-theft solution, the Ericsson module includes GPS functionality as well."
