Comment It's a middle ground movie. (Score 1) 201

I saw Lantern on Saturday. I've always liked the Green Lantern since I was a kid but I've never been super-familiar with it like I was with Spider-man or Batman.

Again I'd say it was a mid-grade comic book movie. Good visuals, but it was a tad slow. I'd have liked to see more of Hal being a Lantern on Earth, and of course it could have used a lot more Sinestro (or Mark Strong, for that matter). Also, the reviewer made a mistake - Sinestro was hardly forgettable. He was awesome, because he was played by the talented Mark Strong. I couldn't wait to see more of him and that last bit with him and the Yellow Power Ring was awesome.

It wasn't as well done as something like Dark Knight or Spider-man 2, but it also wasn't horribly done like Spider-man 3 or Fantastic Four. I got my $10 at the theater. I won't see it at the theater again, but I'll likely purchase the BluRay when it's released.

Come on Captain America.

BTW I'm not really a Marvel fanboy. I do 'prefer' Marvel comics to DC, but when it comes to the heavy hitters like Superman, Batman, (and pretty much the entire Top Tier Justice League members) I WAYYY prefer DC. The Avengers WISH they could be as cool as the JLA.

I happened to have changed my PSN password months ago when people would share their accounts with their friends, so I wasn't worried about hackers getting access to my email, or online accounts anywhere else. I did have to cancel my debit card that I had on file with Sony and get a new one, but I was also lucky enough to not have anything charged on the card while it was still active.

Even so, I don't trust Sony's security measures, especially considering what happened with their page to change passwords getting hacked as well. (jeez, lol)

I didn't and currently don't miss or even use PSN. I watch Netflix on one of the many other Netflix capable devices I have (at last count, 5 in my entertainment center alone). Even the couple of games I purchased through PSN before like Final Fantasy VII and Super Street Fighter HD Remix still work so I don't really need PSN anymore.

I honestly don't think Sony will have any issues with PSN (or PSN+) subscribers in the future. There are so many uninformed people out there that have no idea what's been going on that will just sheepishly sign back in when the system is back up.

I don't even miss PSN. Haven't logged in for MONTHS after I jailbroke it, so thankfully I wasn't affected by the initial hacking.

I don't even use XBox Live so it's not a fanboy thing. The only reason I even still have a XBL account is because I got charged for a year back in Nov 09, and I use it for Netflix.

Comment ICQ (Score 1) 395

I used ICQ back in 97 or 98 as my first IM proggie. It was pretty neat, and I remember the "uh oh!" sound when getting a message - before it got old and I turned it off.

I also remember the 'A Current Affair' sound effect when someone asked to be your friend, or whatever. I still even remember my old ICQ number, lol.

I eventually moved to AIM because it was what 'everyone' used. And by 'everyone' I just mean the average computer user/porn surfer. I discovered IRC in probably 2000 because of DALNet, and all of the Dragon Ball Z episodes you could download from there in "HIGH QUALITY!!!!" lol.

Good times.

Trigger got a re-release on the DS or Advance, I believe and it had a small bit of extry content to make it meld better with the terrible Chrono Cross, but it was just a re-release much like the PSX version. I'd like to see a true current-gen graphics version. There was actually an amateur remake out there but it was killed off by Square pretty quick. I'm pretty sure there are still some screenies of it out on the Intertubes.

VII isn't even that great. I 'enjoyed' it when I played it back in 97 but it wasn't mind-blowing like III/VI was. I think the SNES Final Fantasy III/VI was their crowning achievement for the series.

If a Final Fantasy game MUST be remade, I say do a word-for-word, scene-for-scene remake of Final Fantasy III/VI or, even better - Chrono Trigger. That was another amazing game. I've played through Trigger at least 10 times and I probably haven't even gotten all the endings. I'd also love a true sequel to Chrono Trigger, seeing as how Chrono Cross was just... awful.
