You sure about that?

I'd wager a bet that this LED is actually software controlled, and turned on by the camera's device driver.

I'd wager, from a hardware perspective, it would be easier just to put an LED and resistor across the power lines of the webcam rather than hook it to some I/O pin and document it for the software guys for them to implement and test. Cheaper and easier. But I haven't cracked open my macbook to check so who knows.

(for the record i am also a webcam taper)

how would I know Pepsi isn't just keeping the money I give them to get some stranger a free soda?

After this situation occurs enough times, I imagine people will figure out that it doesn't really give their friends a soda and they'll stop using it. So there's some financial incentive for pepsi to actually deliver the drink correctly.

RedHat introduces: The Tea-Party Compiler for Ceylon! It never compiles successfully, it will only complain that you have too much code and suggests you cut some functions out, even if they work.

I imagine with his rather large fanbase, there would be plenty of people who would voluntarily submit their kids' artwork (whether or not you find the idea 'quality parenting'). Hell, maybe even their own from their childhood. (BTW does maddox actually have kids?)

10-15 kilowatt hours, not kilowatts.

12 lamps * 225 W/lamp * 24 hours/day = 64.8 kWh/day maximum. Looks as he's getting about ~20% of that.

A cool feature of the xterm is it puts Ctrl, Tab, Esc, PgUp, and PgDn on-screen to work with the physical keyboard

Even better is that this onscreen keys bar is customizable so you can add additional useful keys. For instance, I put the | and / characters on there as they are frequently used and kind of a pain to type normally.
