But EVs still generate wear and tear on the road. Gas taxes are to maintain the roads, most laws require the funds to be used to maintain and improve roadways, they don't go into the "general" fund.
Some states charge EV owners a higher registration fee, sometimes hundreds of dollars a year, to make up for the loss gas taxes,

For those states with safety/emissions inspections, the mileage is already recored and sent to the respective DMV/BMV/RMV.
Insurance companies also ask for this information.
The sale of a car forces disclosure of the odometer, and this information is obtained by the DMV/BMV/RMV.
This data isn't secret, apps and gas stations (which EVs are constantly avoiding) aren't necessary for this.

Everyone reads differently. I tend to read each word, so it takes several reading sessions to finish a book; and when I do, I usually stop at a chapter. My wife reads quickly, and she admits she doesn't pick up everything that I do; when she has to put it down (because she didn't quite have enough time to finish it in one go), she just stops where-ever she is.

On my 1+ hour long commute (each way); I started listening to audio books which were a lot less repetitious than the radio or just music.
Listened about 40 over 2 years before the pandemic hit, and my commute went to 0.
Like the comment above about listening during housework, I need to be doing something with my hands (flipping pages works) while listening, but not something that really distracts me or causes me to think too much; as I do want to comprehend.

I was responding to someone else on another forum about what printer to get and I mentioned Brother. I have a Brother HL-1650(N) that I've had for 19 years. Upgraded the memory, and added a network interface. Over 24K pages and still going strong. Third party toner seems to be fine, but I'm always wary of drums. At least they are separate components. Some other people in my household have problems reaching the printer, but it's been rock solid for me. Drivers are starting to become scarce (I'm concerned about macOS 11 Big Sur), but it can always work as a generic PostScript or PCL printer if necessary.

45 is proposing that the federal government shut down social media because of first amendment rights. WTF?
* As a private entity, a social media platform can't violate the first amendment.
* The government shutting down social media is a violation of first amendment rights.

If Twitter is shut down, 45 loses his most important platform. In effect, 45 wants to quiet himself?

And if that little section about websites immunity to user posts (is it the CDA?) were to become invalidated, and social media suddenly becomes liable for everything that is posted, FB, Twitter, etc are going down in flames.

45 doesn't seem to understand the consequences of his desired actions.

For out-of-state, it is quite expensive, but UVM is even more. And it's not too far from UMass for in-state. Both UMass and UVM have had tuition increases every year. Whereas Purdue has had all fees (including room and board) frozen since 2012. I didn't realize this when my son decided to go there, but every year was the same price, and it made budgeting easier.
