Submission + - gaming-wiki.com launched! (gaming-wiki.com)

Sargonas writes: "Gaming-wiki.com has been launched recently, a fresh attempt at a community driven gaming site. While the review sites are in an over-abundance, they are limited to information written by staff that is paid to write specific issues, with a user opinionated slant. While this is good, it does not provide the one stop shopping source for all-encompassing info that a wiki on the same subject can provide.

Gaming-wiki aims to be the first gaming related wiki that builds up a strong user base and CONTINUES to move forward with community backing, unlike similar attempts in the past that were left on the side of the tubes due to disuse. A wiki is first and foremost a community driven system, without users to submit, it grows stale and old. With hope, this new endeavor will build up enough momentum to carry itself into the spot of the premier place for gaming information."

Submission + - What are your hosting experiences?

gratemyl writes: Having gone through a long time trying to find a VPS host which satisfies my very own requirements (pptpd support) and spending some time looking for cluster computer (and supercomputer) access (paid, of course), I would like to know: what were your experiences with different hosts? What unusual hosting requirements did you have (incl. cluster computer access)?

I am from Germany, no CC, thus need to pay using PayPal — Amazon EC2 does not allow PayPal, and I am currently looking at Sun's www.network.com.

Submission + - AT&T to Target iPhone to Enterprise

narramissic writes: "AT&T is reportedly preparing to market the iPhone to business users and is scurrying to ensure that its backend enterprise billing and support systems will accommodate the device when it ships. Analysts are baffled by the move. In addition to running an OS X-based operating system, which enterprises may be reluctant to adopt, the iPhone is also expected to have a number of shortcomings for business users, including not having a removable battery and not having buttons, which would make it difficult to dial while driving says Gartner's Ken Dulaney. Avi Greengart, principal analyst for mobile devices at Current Analysis, also thinks the iPhone won't be a good option for enterprise customers because enterprises won't be able to write applications for the phone."

Feed Towards Rational Vaccine Design (sciencedaily.com)

The immune system recognizes vaccine agents as foreign, destroys them, and "remembers" them. When the virulent version of an agent comes along, the immune system is thus prepared to respond. This long term immunity relies heavily upon the generation of so called B cells, which will generate antibodies that will bind to pathogens and mark them for destruction. A recent study describes strategies for vaccine design, specifically selective priming of B cells using various adjuvants.

Feed Man-made Chemicals Detected In Newborns (sciencedaily.com)

An analysis of nearly 300 umbilical cord blood samples shows that newborn babies are exposed to perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) while in the womb. PFOS and PFOA are polyfluoroalkyl compounds (PFCs) -- ubiquitous man-made chemicals used in a variety of consumer products, including as a protective coating on food-contact packaging, textiles and carpets, and in the manufacturing of insecticides.
