An anonymous reader writes: The winners of the 2007 Pwnie Awards were announced during an award ceremony at the Black Hat USA security conference last night. David Maynor received the award for Most Overhyped Bug for the media frenzy surrounding the Apple Wi-Fi vulnerabilities he presented an year ago at BlackHat. The OpenBSD project received the Lamest Vendor Response award for spectacularly mishandling a remotely exploitable kernel vulnerability in their IPv6 stack. Tech.Luver writes: "Telegraph reports, " New claims that Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper contains a hidden image of a woman holding a child are provoking a storm of interest on the internet. The figure allegedly appears when the 15th Century mural painting is superimposed with its mirror image, and both are made partially transparent. According to Slavisa Pesci, an Italian amateur scholar, the resulting composite picture shows a figure clutching what appears to be a young child. ""

Anonymous Coward writes: "Many people, such as me-said-the-idiot, or maybe all, cannot connect to a WPA protected WiFi network with Vista. So many will have to use an unsecured network configuration in order to go online. Practically all new PC laptops sold now are bundled with Vista, so this could well become the biggest and easiest to exploit security leak.. Many posts on MS forum http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx? PostID=481371&SiteID=17 but apparently it still isn't considered a problem by MS.."

An anonymous reader writes: After employees at Dell's Roseburg, Oregon call center filed a lawsuit about violations of state and federal labor law Dell responds by closing the call center and stating "the closure has nothing to do with a lawsuit filed by employees of the Roseburg center in February". This act in itself seems to be another violation of labor law due the closure being a retaliatory act.

An anonymous reader writes: Anecdotal evidence from Australian consumers indicates Apple are holding back stock from their resellers, while shipping from their online store in record time. A workmate ordered a MBP 8 weeks ago from a reputable reseller who has been saying each week 'apple say they have no stock, they won't tell us when our orders will be filled', yet people ordering from the Apple online store are receiving their laptops within 1-2 business days. My workmate canceled his order on wednesday and ordered online, he just received his laptop today (friday), after phoning the reseller they still have no word on when stock will be coming through. Forum posters from around the state indicate similar issues.
