There are many forms of AI and they are already being used in every major engineering challenge we face today, and most minor ones.

What do you think the computer simulations of laminar and turbulent flow are but specific AIs to deal with fluids and shapes?

There is a significant difference in speed in doing something new vs rewriting an existing app in a new language.
