All of the battery issues I have had with my Droid 2 Global have come from Motorola bundled functionality. Their modified Exchange client had some nice features, but was a battery hog. I nearly doubled my battery life by installing Touchdown. Something they did causes the phone to run the GPS almost continuously. My original DROID did not do this with the same set of apps installed. It attributes the time to the Maps app, but from what I've read, that is only because some other app is using the location service from the Maps app.

Submission + - Is "Chrome=HTML5" the new "AOL=The Internet"? (omgubuntu.co.uk)

Dalar_ca writes: Google's Chrome Web Store has been open for a while now, with countless apps that imply in their presentation that they only work on the Chrome browser, when in reality the vast majority work in any HTML5-capable browser. Recently, Angry Birds for Chrome entered beta testing — some bold commenters in an article on OMG Ubuntu pointed out it works better in IE9 than Chrome, and some pointing out that the "HTML5" game still required flash to be installed, thus theoretically not being a true HTML5 app.
Is Google's new push to present web apps as "Chrome apps" an inethical throwback to the early days of AOL when they attempted to present their ISP as the whole Internet, or just a harmless attempt at promoting Chrome?
