Comment Accurate. It's still just statistics. (Score 1) 114

Until it can output some sort of semantic metalanguage that can be consumed by rule based systems that can be used for iterative self correction to > 99% correctness confidence, or it can somehow be rigged to learn by trial and error, it will still be a genius with a lobotomy, spitting out statistically weighted behavioral data in a single pass. That's good enough for lots of minor everyday uses, but it's really not an effective intelligence appliance that you could use to do original research or use for any mission critical, real world application.

But they won't:

1) Reduce hallucinations

2) Implement iterative, self-correcting rule based reasoning in a neural net architecture to train the Chatbot piece.

Looks like management has already prepped this to be a disappointment.

So typically Verizon. Probably chosen by MBA managers instead of the development staff who would have laughed it out of consideration in 5 minutes.

Correct in this case, unfortunately. The consequences of falling behind the AI race with Chins would be immediate and devastating. This is completely predictable.

The consequences of advanced AI is unpredictable.

100% certainty of aggressive domination by the Chinese vs unknown certainty of problems with an AI where we can pull the plug.

Gonna go with something I can kill by pulling a plug on that one.

Everyone assumes these things are intelligent. From the behaviors I've seen in the reports, all they seem do is move together, dart away suddenly and hang around areas of activity as if curious.

My guppies do that.

These things may be aliens, and may have evolved in space with the ability to move without propellants, but I see no evidence of intelligence whatsoever.
