I didn't see the rest of the comment as relevant since he was talking about Biden and himself there. The only portion I was concerned about was him complimenting Putin. I skimmed through the rest of the interview but didn't see anything else that was on the topic or provided a disclaimer to the topic, but figured by linking to the original source rather that other people's opinions was the most informative path.

So are you saying that Trump is stupid?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, what went wrong was a rigged election and what went wrong is a candidate that shouldn’t be there and a man that has no concept of what he’s doing. I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, “This is genius.” Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.

So, Putin is now saying, “It’s independent,” a large section of Ukraine. I said, “How smart is that?” And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy I know him very well. Very, very well.

Ummm, you might have to cite your sources on this one. I've worked a few places in the US and while I have run into slackers, not sure what a defector is used in this context, I find that most people take pride in their jobs and work. Generally, I've found that most put in the time and effort they are paid for, so when they make a decent living and don't have to work multiple jobs to support themselves and their families they perform rather nicely.

But of course, that's just my opinion and I don't have a researched position to provide proof of that, I do know that the US has some of the best productivity per capita of the world, so I'd like some sources for your opinion so that I can research and provide counter examples or decide to agree with you.

The congress critters represent the state and states set most of the voting rights for people in their states unless those rules are deemed unconstitutional in court. There have been a few court cases where the gerrymandering was deemed unconstitutional by a judge and sent back to be fixed, but it's the state legislature that determines those voting areas. The republicans have been more willing to use the power to set voting districts than the democrats over the past couple of decades, but I assume the democrats have the same options in states where they have the majority.

The federal government was not granted the right to oversee elections, instead the power is with the states. There seems to be some recognition of the effects of gerrymandering, but it's difficult to get back into power once the voting areas have been designed to give one party an advantage. And if that party has an advantage, they don't seem to think it's a pressing issue to be corrected. Some courts are mandating change due to lawsuits, but eventually those cases will have to work though the system. Right now there is no mandate for states to accept any other method than the methods they choose.

It's not open to public use, have to have a license with IBM. Not typically used by the average slashdotter I would guess. So this is just a package under IBM virtualization of x86. I guess it's kind of interesting, but I can find interesting compilers for other hardware systems as well, but unless you're actually using that system who really cares.

As stated there are cobol compilers available for Linux that can actually be downloaded and used. It's been done before so nothing really interesting about this application except if you are using IBM virtualization you can have COBOL support, big woop.

Discord makes money by charging for extras, icons, user rights, extra services, but discord by itself is fine for communicating, it's sort of the free-to-play model and they make their money off of bling. As to why MS is considering buying them, market share. Microsoft is dominate in their areas, so they have to branch out to get more users, adding a new service with an established user base helps acquire more users. Microsoft plays the long game going for long term gain. Probably looking at recouping costs in the 10,20 plus year range. It's a gamble, but odds are better than just investing 10 billion in the stock market.

Yeah, Atlanta wasn't stocked for years and the employees kept saying that they were switching distributors. Fry's had problem stocking the stores for years. I quit going because they never had items in stock. I preferred going to the store and buying my parts to build computers so that if I had a item fail I could return it and get a new one with a 20 minute drive. But, being out of motherboards, SSD Drives and power supplies makes it a little hard to do that, so I gave up on them. It took a lot of work, but they managed to drive away the loyal customers.

Oh, and they shut down the Duluth store without even a weeks notice. So it was just the Milton store and that was an extra hassle to get to. It definitely a failure of management.
