Comment Re: Low latitudes don't make much sense (Score 1) 79

Everyone hates the change, but people mostly prefer later sunsets. A sensible compromise would be to permanently split the difference, eg:

NewEastern = UTC-4.5

NewCentral = UTC-5.5

NewMountain = UTC-6.5

NewPacific = UTC-7.5

Guaranteed, within a year, most countries in Europe would do the same thing, and most timezones would end up a whole number of hours apart, but an additional half-hour ahead or behind UTC.

To wit, an actual official time zone:
Newfoundland = UTC-3.5

Yes, Every molecule (bond, actually) does have a resonant frequency. Microwaves activate this resonance to increase the molecule's energy by making it vibrate faster, increasing the temperature in the process. _Breaking_ that bond is much more difficult - the frequencies we're talking about don't have it. Generally that bond is broken when an atom becomes ionized by sufficient E=hf, which requires UVB(?) and above, like x-rays and gamma radiation. Microwaves will heat tissue, and can cause severe burns with enough power and exposure. Sure, the proteins will undergo change/breakdown due to high temperatures, but at this point the cells are mostly dead. The problem is a thermal burn that can go deep into tissue, not DNA damage that can run amok.

The basic idea of a Code of Conduct is fine, but it does need to be formulated such that it doesn't become a hammer for vindictive people and their hurt feelings. In other words, if the CoC is written by or has any input form SJW grievance experts, then the answer is a solid "NO".
