Comment Apple far from the worst (Score 4, Interesting) 47

Come on. Why target apple? They could target every phone maker. Android phones have a planned obsolescence of 2 years at best (no more updates of any kind). iPhones last way longer than that and are provided with upgrades for a way longer time.
They are just attacking one of the best in that field.

Lots of highly modified cars on the road here. What do you count as major changes? Aftermarket coilovers? Big brake kits? Body kits? Engine and transmission swaps? Those would all be subject to normal safety inspection here, but certainly not proscribed.

In Belgium:
Aftermarket coilovers: some are allowed, but you must pay per year for the special yearly technical inspection for those.
Big brake kits: forbidden
Stainless steel brake hoses: forbidden
Body kits: same as coilovers
Engine and transmission swap: forbidden

I have also been using them. But I threw them all away at some point. Just because, over time, they kill the USB port on the devices, even if it's not easy to see it. They mostly wear the original connector, so that you can only use those reversible cables and the standard cable just disconnects if you try to use it afterwards.

A simple example would be to enable the full use of the batteries that are already installed in the car. And, like autopilot which would be deactivated if you sell the car. It's indeed not exactly the same, but you bought the car with the batteries, so why would you need to pay more to use them at 100% and worse, why would it be deactivated when the car is sold, which means you lose the prime you paid because the new owner won't pay for something he can't use. But it's stated that with BMW, you can also pay once for life, just like with Tesla batteries, so you probably can't sell the car with heated seats either even if you paid for it for life.
