I agree with you. I really do not understand the hate on Slashdot for a new financial - money really - programming language. Bitcoin is sorta like C whereas Ethereum is more like C++. It's possible to implement a useful financial enterprise using Ethereum -- with complete transparency.

But ... it seems like the majority of people on Slashdot (and a few others) are intent on sticking with opaque financial models. And that's okay too. But the hate is deep on here.

In truth, US Dollars is the currency of choice for anyone committing crimes. Banks are frequently guilty of money laundering and ICIJ has a very large trove of data that documents financial crimes. But all of this is ignored the moment someone whispers, "Bitcoin" on here. Suddenly, all of the hate is directed to this new language.

And -- it's now been around for ten years and they are still predicting the death of Bitcoin. Even as the majority of new Financial Degree graduates are quitting Wall Street and going to CryptoCurrency and Blockchain firms, they are still parroting blatant lies that would make anyone blush.

For an industry dedicated to proving the truth (because Logic is required at all times when programming), I find it astounding that lies can still be pervasive.

Hackers don't discriminate...The systems that they kill are all vulnerable to their attacks unless and until we learn to treat data -- and each other -- better. But...no, this is not what will happen.

What will happen is FTC will probably slap MGM. MGM will rebrand...And everyone involved will get a check for $1.13 (only usable on MGM slot machines) with free credit monitoring and life will go on.

But whether or not a pangolin mated with a bat and had pangobat babies...the COVID virus happened. Oh and it's still mutating like crazy mad. Who the hell knows how it will end up even a year from now.

The world was woefully unprepared for the outbreak that legit increased the worldwide mortality rate by a good percentage. It makes Pandemia look like God mode compared to what really happened. Like airports worldwide remained opened. People questioned whether or not it was even real even as their friends, relatives, children and spouses died from it. Like in the ER they would be going "it's not real!!" and then they would gasp and die.

And then...here we are on the other side of it somehow. And what plays on TV? Call of Duty, Ukraine vs Russia edition. Nuclear secrets in bathroom. And don't forget 5 billionaires meet the Titanic passengers, Afterlife edition.

Mold, Viruses, Climate Change (no matter WHO caused it) and more all take a backseat into the lies that the Media is shoving down our throat. It's 1984 plus Soylent plus Brazil all combined and made real. Quite literally we're fighting about really stupid stuff about monitors bolted into expired carbon fiber hulls. Who cares?

The point remains that we're so focused on the origin of shit that we're forgetting that the destination (as in that brick wall we're heading towards) is forgotten.

YouTube (and others) know when songs have NOT been monetized. That is, works of art that belongs to the original creator. By the original law, that content belongs to them.

YouTube knowing PERMITS others to register these works. They then pay those people for the works of art that actually belongs to someone else.

This defect in the software was exploited by some random dude.

And now they're all butthurt and want to DETER others from exploiting this obvious defect in the software.

It depends on WHAT you are doing. Are you trying to play a video game at max resolution? It's not going to work on a Mac. And it was never designed for that.

Are you trying to transcode a video efficiently? Yes, a Mac M1 Pro Ultra Uber edition will be perfect for that.

I'm sure some uber geek will try a USB-C to RX3090 one of these days but again this is defeating the point. Every machine configuration is good at a particular thing. Since Apple's target audience is generally artists, causal moms and kids and even video editors -- the M1 will work for this.

Pro Gamers will never consider the M1 for a variety of reasons but performance is clearly not the main reason. The main reason would be that every pro game is already designed for Intel / Nvidia or even AMD's worlds -- not the M1.
