Submission + - Small asteroid burns up over Atlantic Ocean

The Bad Astronomer writes: On Feb. 6, an asteroid roughly 6 meters across burned up over the Atlantic Ocean, exploding like a 10 kiloton bomb. Although this was the largest event since the Chelyabinsk superbolide in 2013 (which injured 1000+ people), there were no witnesses. It happened 1000 km off the coast of Brazil, and was reported by the military, though it's unclear how they detected it.

Make a twitter for newbies and a news feed if you want, I like my hand curated news sources as they are.

It isn't broken for me.

A bigger fix would be to make twitter a proper platform like it was, not a semi closed app

Journal Journal: I Hurd it on the grapevine

tqft@tqft-hurd:~$ uname -a
GNU tqft-hurd 0.6 GNU-Mach 1.4+git20150409-486/Hurd-0.6 i686-AT386 GNU

qemu-img Not kvm-img as on the documentation on debian which apparently doesn't recognise that as a valid command or program (I looked via synaptic as well).

Running xfce, apparently gnome and kde don't work yet.

Yet to do a proper reboot.

Download dvd iso, follow commands (except as above), click as per usual debian install. Done

Sorry for the clickbait. Just a write up from a book coming out soon.

I think I just like how the story won't die.

Before wiping your laptop after backing up your /home remember /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and possibly modprobe.conf

The filesystem was getting flaky and dropped out while I was using it. Paved the linux partitions and now resinstalling.
Next up wifi with broadcom.
re above: Missed the soundcard setup. Done now.
