Comment Grow and cook your own foods? (Score 1) 221

It seems that almost everything is highly processed.
Even vegetables have been compromised with disease ridden tomatoes, spinach and probably everything else too.
Mass vegetable growing in search of higher profit causes all sorts of chemicals to be used.
Is the only solution to grow your own food?
I really don't have the time for that.
Can I trust the "organic" designation?
There are cheaters everywhere.
How depressing.
At least the sun is shining today.
I'm going for a walk.

Comment Cat hosting neighborhood feline party (Score 1) 72

We had a cat door that was programmed to unlock only when our cat was in proximity to the door.
The objective was to deny entry to other cats - which had previously been a problem.
The problem was that our cat would sit beside the cat door, thus unlocking it and other cats would still come in - FAIL.
Next project fail: squirrel-proof bird feeder.

Comment Whoever you vote for, the government gets in (Score 1) 173

A long-ago debate held at my UK university had the motion: "whoever you vote for, the government gets in".
The motion was passed in the debate by a large margin.
I sided with the motion.
I still do.
I believe politicians are mostly a very bad bunch.
They sell/corrupt themselves to the rich folk and do their bidding.
So you can howl for your favorite political party all you want, you sheep.
It's amazing how easily the sheep can be brainwashed.
I will continue to boycott all elections as a useless one-person protest.
I'm gonna do what I can to protect my family and try and ignore the mayhem caused by the politicians the best I can.
I find that distracting myself on something enjoyable works very well to keep my sanity in this crazy world - in my case my grandkids.
Have a great day.

Comment Why focus on NFTs? (Score 2) 44

IMHO, insider trading of any type is common. What is uncommon is someone getting caught.
Some of the traders of large financial institutions seem to be able to reliably predict the future: very, very reliably.
Doesn't anyone (SEC) look at trading patterns to determine an unrealistically successful trader?
They never proved too much about Martha Stewart except for the fact that there was a phone call at a crucial moment.
That was enough to convict.
Surely a wealth of unrealistically successful trades would be at least as much proof?
