The majority of drivers that pull up beside me and scream at me to "Get the F' on the sidewalk" are 20's something Asian men. Much rarer is a teenage or early 20's something white guy. One was a mid 30's black guy driving a BMW that pulled a gun and pointed it at me while screaming to get on the sidewalk even though it is illegal for anyone over the age of 12 to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk [findlaw.com]

Presumably, you called in the plate number of the car and had the driver arrested for brandishing, right? If not, I'm calling bullshit on this.

No one buys a Rolex for it's ability to do anything. They aren't even very good at telling time, easily outdone in accuracy and long term stability by a $10 Casio.

Do you honestly think people buy Swiss watches that aren't good at telling time? Certainly, battery powered watches are more accurate - but my day doesn't require 1/10sec accuracy.

As for not being able to 'do anything' - my watch can tell the time in three time zones, concurrently. Which is why I bought that model. I don't use that function as much as I once did, but I'm a sucker for a watch with a GMT complication.

The chances of me giving up my Pepsi Rolex GMT Master II for an iWatch are... zero, zip, nada.

Sure, you can call the Rolex jewelry if it makes you feel better, superior, or smarter. I don't give a shit. I've had mechanical automatic watches since 1986 - Rolex, Breitling, Glycine. I'm not going to change that now.

I think the Venn diagram of Swiss watch owners and iWatch owners has a small overlap, but most everyone looking into buying a Swiss watch isn't looking at smart watches and changing their minds.

For what do you need/use GPS guidance?

Many (most?) farmers make contracts with fertilizer and seed suppliers. The contracts usually state how much is planted, where, and what fertilizers/insecticides to use and on what schedule.

For the see/fert/insecticide suppliers, this means taking on the risk that the crop will be viable. It also means that the farmer gets contracted costs and a known price per quantity of harvested product. So, a corn farmer might contract with the supplier to plant his acres with a guaranteed buyout of $7.25/bushel of corn.

This is a form of futures trading.

What this has to do with GPS is that the farmer can maximize the efficiency of seed planting and fertilizer/insecticide spread based on his acreage and layout. For the larger industrial farms, the cost savings can be substantial.

Yeah, you should try watching that scene again. See the crane to the right of the helicopter? The cables hanging down from the boom? The blades hitting the cable?

The miniseries had flaws, but that helicopter scene isn't one of them.

Seriously, the thing I hate most about TLJ is how its turned fandom (and reactions to fandom) toxic.

No, the fans didn't turn 'toxic'. It's just more bullshit narrative from the woke crowd. A label they applied so they could virtue signal and deflect blame. There are no more or less 'asshole' fans than existed before this current climate.

TLJ is not a good film. But, if you call out the flaws or point out the entire casino planet scene was plot filler and BS, or lament the complete waste of killing Admiral Ackbar offscreen, you immediately get attacked for being a misogynist.

The difference now is that social media makes it easier for the assholes to reach a wider audience, and it gives SJWs a place to rally and throw shade on anyone who disagrees with them.
