Comment I want my logs (Score 1) 123

I have many 365 tenants and Microsoft was charging so much to access to security features (logs and granular MFA control) it felt like extortion. On July 19 2023 they made these free because of these attacks. So for me, these attacks were a good thing because it shed sunlight on what Microsoft was doing to its customers. It even states in the summary: "[Microsoft] was essentially up-selling logging capability". I now have free access to security tools that I should have had for free all along.

As for SolarWinds products, I did not trust them before the supply chain problems, why would anyone trust them after? They are the K-Mart of software.

Windows 11 requirements are TPM 1.2 and a dual core CPU, which even a 15 year old dell computer has, like an OptiPlex 780. It is only the Windows 11 "upgrade" that checks for TPM 2.0 and a 8th gen CPU. Just enable TPM, enable secure boot, and do a fresh install.

I refuse to give up technology. I like change. Playing whack-a-mole and swatting buzzwords is very much part of the tech industry. Anecdotally, I was offered only a few jobs at 48 years old, and they all had low wages, bad hours, etc., so I started my own IT business. I'm now 55 with a nice customer base (over 40 businesses). I still study for more certifications. I poach customers from the companies that wanted to pay me $20 per hour while they charged $185 per hour (what a scam). The best part is that they know I poached their customer. A big middle finger is what they get. I would be poaching their employees but that is bad Karma. I love technology, even though I know it will drive me insane.

Many anti-virus products try to detect anything on your computer that is unusual, like a modified hosts file. This is a good thing. That is why they allow you to add exclusions. If you are technologically advanced enough to modify your hosts file, you should know how to add an exclusion using filenames or paths. You should definitly dump this "insecure by default" OS and move to Linux.

There is no such thing as US chocolate. Hershey copied the Germans and Nestle was German. There must be a million shops that makes chocolate differently throughout the US. A lot of chocolate in the US is great, much of it is terrible. And yes, I grew up in Belgium. I know my chocolate (and marzipan), and yes, Swiss chocolate is near the top of my list. Pizza from the US is mostly bad, but there are places that make better pizza than any I have had in Italy. Like Diavola Pizzeria in Geyserville. My favorites are Connecticut and New York pizza. I lived in NY for ten years and about half the places served up some great slices. Dominos is edible, that is all. Cheese and sauce on dough does not make it pizza.

A good alarm system is much less expensive than a dog. It doesn't even need to call the police. It just has to be easy to trigger; like every door, every window, and infrared everywhere else; difficult to disable: like on battery; and very loud. A well-known alarm company sign helps. There are also deterrents you can set to trigger like audio of a dog barking and fake TV lights. Of course, if you want a pooping, eating, and biting machine that sheds, vomits, and slobbers, get a dog.

I had a Lumia 928 for 7 years. The only reason I upgraded to a Samsung S20 was apps were not available on Windows phones, like my bank app. I miss waving my hand over the phone to see my emails. After 7 years the battery only lasted one day. It used to keep a charge for 3 days. The 928 was great phone, but the S20 is faster with maps. If the 928 had developers making apps for it, I would still be using it, despite how hot it got using maps on a trip.
