Sometimes I miss dancing hamsters.

But then I sober up.

I joined three gyms in 5-6 years and never stuck with it for more than 3 months, wasting the rest of the year's membership. Then, I decided to get into martial arts (partly as a family activity). A decent school with good master instructors will keep you motivated. There's always a new goal ahead of you: your next belt promotion, that new technique you saw the senior students practicing, new opportunities, etc. I've stuck with it for 6.5 years now, earning a 2nd dan in taekwondo and have been training in various Korean sword techniques for the past 3 years. When I started, I was around 215#, now I hover around 185-190# which is appropriate for my height and body type.

You just have to carve time out of your schedule. I drop my older son off at school around 7:15, work from 8-5, train immediately after work 2-3 days a week and still have time to cook dinner, attend soccer practices, help with homework and so on. The big difference is that I watch little TV any more ... and don't really miss it.

That's how I did mine ... combination of TA and RA = no grad school debt plus ~$1500-1800/mo income (back in the mid-late 90s) to scrape by on.

Oh, many of us do, but the laws have been written that keep the working class down. We take what we can get and be glad for it. It's the American Way!

Good luck. Our Republican state legislature figured out a way to get our anti-gay-rights amendment on the ballot during the primaries which a) have notoriously low voter turnout and b) didn't have a Democratic race for president, further limiting the liberal vote. It probably didn't make a huge difference in the end, but it shows the lengths conservatives will go to in order to shove their morals down everyone else's throats.

I'm too bored to do much digging, but I read this one about an hour ago. http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/technolog/dont-pass-it-voting-booth-hoax-spreads-facebook-1C6884772. That said, maybe it isn't being perpetrated by R ... maybe a D is behind it in an effort to make it look like an R.

In either case, there's lots of shenanigans going on by both major parties. Don't act so surprised.

Go for a malt-forward brew and you can get by on about $23-25 for a 5 gallon batch, which will yield north of 50 12 oz bottles. Under $0.50 for a good beer is a nice price point, but as you say, there are some up-front equipment costs, ignored labor costs and TIME!
