No, this is not a good analogy. Swatting was recognized as a prank before this incident. And intent matters.

This is what I did. I mounted a compact outdoor yagi antenna in my attic right above where the DirecTV line used to come in. Plugged that in to the splitter in place of the dish connection, and voila, every cable jack in my house is now an OTA TV antenna feed. I still use my iPad Mini on a daily basis, and will likely replace it with a Mini 4 sometime this year. But then I'm "old" (48), need reading glasses these days, and appreciate the extra screen size over my android phone for casual use around the house and watching videos.

There is no background check involved for one individual selling to another in most states. If you're purchasing a firearm (rifle or not) from a gun store, pawn shop, dealer at a gun show etc, anyone who sells guns with an FFL, then there is a background check.

Not natively anyway. My preferred app for playing media on my iPad, including mkv files, is nplayer. Not free, but worth every penny. I'm assuming it works on an iPhone, my personal phone is an android and I'm not paying to put nplayer on the iPhone my employer makes me carry.
