my biggest reason is that I can't afford hardware to run a recent Windows release. I'm still using XP-level hardware. my own fault for improper budgeting. that being said, XP sucks and I decided that I'd like to be a legitimately-licensed software user. Linux made sense. It runs reasonable well with a light window manager and suits my basic computing needs. If I ever decide to edit video (have tried and failed with linux) I will try out OS X or maybe bite the bullet and get a windows machine. I would hold out as long as possible though. There is nothing appealing about windows to me.

I remember reading about some republican figurehead who claimed that liberal people are just over-educated..... not to be political or anything though, I digress... I have a B.S. and work at a donut factory. I had been working with a PhD student until she got an assistantship finally. I don't really feel entitled to better work and I'm sure I could've found some shitty office job by now if I wanted to. The economic situation isn't working in my favor but it's not impossible. I'd rather have a semi-skilled job with low stress and plenty of free time. So what if I have to dumpster dive sometimes? it's more fun anyway. I can'not imagine the factory work that the Chinese are turning away. My brain immediately envisions hot lead, barrels of mercury, 18 hr days. I'm sure they're modernizing the conditions as much as any other place but really, alot of the current education paradigm is based on generating more drone workers anyway. More cogs in a gigantic machine with too many cogs that's gonna splatter allover the place....

all of that big research drove the economy to the giant bubble of an intangible /meta/digital-numeric entity that it is today. it is all one in the same. seamless. cyclic. natural.

this just in: scientists' objective observations and speculations should be taken as fact. they ALWAYS define reality with a wholesome and complete explanation

quantum mechanics is a product of consciousness.. i.e. it is a completely human-made construct made of language and quantified values as observed by humans. they are not "laws" so much as "observations".

the fallacy is the assumption that the human nervous system is a separate entity observing a universe that is completely outside of it. i.e. assumption that you are not a product of the universe. an outside system observing a completely separate system. and consciousness (as we are now becoming conscious of) is a very integral part of "physics" and the universe in general. it's not a machine that functions on random fluctuations and coincidences

yes, it most definitely "explains" it. though really it just quantifies consciousness in linear left-brain terminology / bridges the path to spirituality / mysticism /metaphysics.
