Submission + - AOL to Cut 20% of Employees (yahoo.com)

adambha writes: "AOL just announced that they will be eliminating about 2,000 jobs in a cost-cutting move to shift resources to high-growth areas. With recent acquisitions adding to the payroll, this move is seen as a restructuring of organization to adjust to these additions while shifting efforts toward other web properties. From the article, "AOL believes it is now best at developing Web sites such as its Moviefone and MapQuest properties to attract people in some 30 countries, Falco said. Its goal, he said, is to build 'the largest and most sophisticated global advertising network' for marketers to reach that online audience."

Largest and most sophisticated global advertising network? We'll see."
