Submission + - New report shows disproportionate share of software-related patent litigation

Lemeowski writes: A new report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) paints a rather grim picture of the current patent system, especially for software patents. The report found that between 2007 and 2011, two-thirds of defendants in patent litigation were sued over software-related patents, saying unclear and overly-broad patents were key factors in patent litigation abuse.
