An anonymous reader writes: Kickstarter's been the go to place for indie developers to get funding for a few years now, but as a feature published today points out, there's a new trend emerging: many of the projects being backed are spiritual sequels to yesteryear's classics, games with established teams but not the IP — projects like Eternal Darkness and even Ecco the Dolphin successors. But what happens to projects like these when Kickstarter backers lose interest in nostalgia?
