Submission + - Opera switches to WebKit/Chromium, takes 300 million users along (thenextweb.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Opera has decided to use the WebKit rendering engine in place of its inhouse Presto. Håkon Wium Lie, CTO of Opera and father of CSS says: "It makes more sense to have our experts working with the open source communities to further improve WebKit and Chromium, rather than developing our own rendering engine further. Opera will contribute to the WebKit and Chromium projects, and we have already submitted our first set of patches: to improve multi-column layout." The multi-column screenshots look promising for magazine-like content on the web.
