Science, technology, startups, and suicide

  • In places like the Silicon Valley where there were hi-tech startups since the, oh, 1939, when Mr. David Packard and Mr. William Hewlett first started their business.

    I and many others were in the Silicon Valley in the 70's, many more came in the 80's and 90's.

    Yes, there _were_ occassional suicides among the entrepreneurs, but that was rare.

    If there is a jump on the suicide rate on the current crop of startup entrepreneurs, the problem may be that those who commit suicide were not cut from the same fabric as

"Don't tell me I'm burning the candle at both ends -- tell me where to get more wax!!"
