Submission + - Unintended consequences of the Copyright Alerts System (dailydot.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Internet cafés could become hotbeds of piracy once U.S. ISPs implement the Copyright Alerts System (a.k.a. "Six Strikes") later this year.

According to a CAS spokesperson, "Small businesses like cafés should obtain Internet service that includes the offering of public wifi as part of their terms of services. Services that include this in their terms of service will not be a part of CAS."

So, although pirating at home could lead to consequences like reduced connection speeds or having to take an "educational" course to maintain your Internet service, pirating in a café has none of those consequences.
