Submission + - Ubuntu Phone Won't Run Default Desktop Apps (muktware.com)

sfcrazy writes: There was a lot of excitement (and lack of information) around Ubuntu Phone. Most Ubuntu users were excited about the idea of Ubuntu as they were imaging running terminal, apt-get install gimp and run apps like LibreOffice or GIMP on their phones. That seems to be untrue. In an online interview Jono Bacon has clarified that traditional desktop apps won't run on Ubuntu phone. Also it may face same fate as OEM's Android phones as Canonical will put OEMs in-charge and not user so you may not even be able to run apt-get on your phone.
