An anonymous reader writes: Since Windows 8 certification for tablets requires at least nine MEMS sensors--three-axis each for accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers--as they proliferate Microsoft will be covering the Earth with snazzy sensors. You app developers out there should be able to harness those sensor for all sorts of breakthoughs like this: an app that alerts you when an earthquake is coming your way by crowd-sourcing the accelerometer data of Windows tablets that have already been hit. I have a few other ideas, but I'm going to code them. Do you have any ideas for a Windows 8 app that crowd-sources sensor data?
