Submission + - Seafile, A Project for Building Your Own Dropbox

killing writes: A team from China announces an open source file synchronization tool — Seafile (http://seafile.com), which is Dropbox-like but designed for teams. Interesting features includes: 1) support self-hosting; 2) Files are organized into libraries, each be synced separately; 3) Users can create and join groups. The project is hosted on Github (https://github.com/haiwen/seafile). According to the project's description, it uses GIT's data storage model but is redesigned for efficiently handling larger files (such as images) and automatic synchronization. It aims at implementing an auto-sync algorithm from scratch, which is comparable to Dropbox. The software now runs on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
