Submission + - Can a medical x-ray machine working two floors below affect my wife's pregnancy? 1

hakakou writes: I live in an apartment building, and wondering if a medical x-ray machine that is operated working hours on the 1st floor has enough backscatter to affect my wife's pregnancy, who's on the 3rd floor. Between us are about 4 meters of space and two concrete floors.

  • I believe that certified medical x-ray devices are required to be operated in lead-lined rooms. So very little if no back scatter should be escaping. You'd probably receive a higher dose of radiation if you have windows that allow sunlight.
