Submission + - Metamaterial black holes form a laser (

submeta writes: "Another interesting project in "tabletop cosmology"; that is, creating simulations of space-time structures using tabletop materials. In this case, researchers have used metamaterials to simulate both a black hole and a white hole (which is a time-reversed black hole) in close proximity. The space between acts as a laser cavity.

Black holes have also been simulated using lasers and sound, as well as bathtubs (but this article is behind a paywall)."
