While right now it is just a drivetrain, the company's hydraulic hybrid features a combination of weight savings, aerodynamic efficiency, regenerative braking, and engine efficiency could yield a remarkable 170 miles per gallon. The system weighs half as much as a hybrid electric and utilizes hydraulic wheelmotors for both propulsion and braking, eliminating the need for large heavy batteries and disk brakes.
