How do I get my Diamond Fusion to work in X? 5

cronio asks "I was wondering if there is a way to get X to work with the Diamond Fusion 2D/3D card using the Voodoo Banshee chipset. So far I haven't been able to get it to work and was wondering if anyone has. Any suggestions?" C :Just a word of note - Diamond is notorious for viciously guarding its Hardware Specs and APIs, and unless a deal has been made (and NDAs signed) by some other party to explicitly make drivers for X, it will be unlikely to see higher end Diamond cards unless one is willing to use a commercial X server. Hopefully, this is not the case in this situation. Answers, anyone?

  • Well, I recently went out and did something stupid like buying the Guillemot "Phoenix" which also uses the Banshee chipset. Now, if you take all the Banshee cards (Fusion, Phoenix, and 3D Blaster Banshee) and place them side-by-side you may notice something. They are all identical. Except for the words painted on top of the chips. Anyhow, I went out and searched around on the Guillemot site. Apparently, someone had posted about a man who had an awesome site and had begun working on a Banshee X Server. It is only designed to work with GLibC and is, at the moment, Pre-Alpha, but... here's the site.... http://glide.xxedgexx.com/status.html... Enjoy! :)
