SmartSuite: SJ Mercury says open it!

Dan Gilmore of the San Jose Mercury News is suggesting that IBM should port SmartSuite and Lotus Notes to Linux, and make it open source instead of leaving it to lose market share by not aggressively marketing it. Despite the previous report by Infoworld, I have had confirmation that as of this time there is no official such strategy at IBM to make SmartSuite or Lotus Notes open source.
