Microsoft Agrees To Human Rights Review in Deals With Law Enforcement, Government (bloomberg.com) 8

Microsoft, which has faced pressure from employees and shareholders over contracts with governments and law enforcement agencies, agreed to commission an independent human rights review of some of those deals. From a report: The move came in response to a June filing of a shareholder proposal asking the company to evaluate how well it sticks to its human rights statement and related policies. Microsoft committed to a review of any human rights impacts that its products have on those including communities of Black, Indigenous and People of Color in contracts for police, immigration enforcement and unspecified other government agencies, according to correspondence from the company viewed by Bloomberg. Microsoft pledged to publish the report next year, and the shareholders, who include faith-based investors like Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, have withdrawn their proposal ahead of Microsoft's annual shareholder meeting next month.

  • The US military and federal law enforcement runs on software from Microsoft, IBM (by way of Redhat), and many other big players.

Much of what these agencies do, namely detaining and killing people, violates the woke code of ethics. Denial of software services to the US military and law enforcement by way of these independent commissions using ethics reviews as a guise is
    a) Sabotage
    b) Treason
    c) Enemy action
    d) I don't care, just jail a few woketards so the nominal normies running these outfits grow a spine

I suspect this is all for show, but if not then the CCP and CCP controlled businesses such as Huawei should be first on the chopping block.

It's worth noting that Microsoft actually does a lot for freedom in China. Not intentionally, mind you.

Tor is blocked by the Great Firewall. One way around it is to route your connection through an Azure server, disguised as HTTPS. The firewall can't tell it apart from all sorts of other connections to the Azure cloud.

I don't know if that balances out what else they do there, but it would be a shame to lose it.

Why? I think the police should be encouraged to use Microsoft software. That will make it more likely that a crash or some malware will wipe out law enforcement records. And the money they spend on IT is money that they can't spend on hiring more cops.

We could really clean out a few police departments' budgets if we could sell them a few Oracle licenses as well.
