Journal Jewcatur's Journal: I am being punished by Slashdot 5
Just to let everyone know, it looks like that my karma has been knocked down to Terrible, yet the moderation of my post has remain unchanged (sitting at +5 as I write this, not posted anything since then).
Looks like Slashdot is up to its dirty tricks again - may I remind everyone of this incident in which Slashdot hypocritically tried to keep a post from being seen and punished anyone for modding it up.

Anyway, FYI, the "editors" changed the karma system so that a downmod is worth -2 karma points but an upmod is still only +1. Therefore repeated moderations that "cancel out" for comment scoring purposes will kill your karma. Yet another reason why Slashdot is dying faster than BSD.

That said, I originally discovered this a few months ago, when my karma was moving around between bad/neutral/positive. By carefully looking over the moderations I had received between a point in time when my karma was neutral and another, later point in time when it was back to neutral again, I noticed that there were exactly twice as many upmods as downmods (excludi

I also found this interesting link [sourceforge.net] while I was waiting 2 minutes to post this comment. It's got various slashcode settings, and these defaults seem to all be what Slashdot uses. Some highlights: When m2ing, if you select Unfair 3 or more times, your m2ing will be ignored. If you select unfair 5 or more times, you get an "m2 penalty." You need Karma of 2
