Journal Planesdragon's Journal: [Politics]: Anti-Grammatical Fucktard 4

I'm half only writing this to ensure ncc74656 that it wasn't a random person trolling his journal.

There is no greater wrong done to the American political landscape than the co-opting of the words "conservative" and "liberal" by the far-right to mean "right-wing" and "left-wing." George W. Bush is a very liberal right-winger. John Kerry is a very conservative left-winger.

Screw bitching about the word "marriage." Get your pundits and speachwriters to stop messing with those words and give us back two very important terms, and I'll vote for you. At this moment, I don't care if you're George W. Bush or Pat Buchannan.

The @#$!ing right-wingers did the co-opting anyway. (Don't believe me? Which word is used as if it were an insult by a certain political party?)

  • You hit it on the nose. Kudos.
  • I share your frustrations. The extreme left wing are authoritarian as anything. Libertarians are the most liberal people. The extreme right wing are not really that conservative either, they're radical. I think there are books on how political terms have come to mean what they do now.
And I haven't made up my mind about wether or not I agree with same-sex civil unions (I'm leaning towards agreeing with it), but it's not really marriage, now is it?

I haven't even allowed comments in my JEs here since the first time /. banned one of my IPs, other than one recent JE pertaining to Slashdot and its unique issues (to put it politely). I didn't see anything fishy at brew-masters either, which is where I have allowed comments. Did I miss something?

    • I used the same phrase as my journal entry in your brewmasters journal, after signing it, and I (half) wanted you to be sure that the not-signed-in-comment using my name wasn't a random left-wing troll.

The terminology is less civil that what I usually use, after all.
