After reading (and responding) to btlzu2's (is it 'smoochy pooh' SW?) JE, Eugene suggested a 'voice contest' much like the photo contests of the past. Say something in your mic, send it to me. I'll encode it into mp3 (unless you want to do that yourself), and we'll put it up on a website and choose who is who.

I thought we tried this before and it didn't work out... but if we were to try it again, who would be up for it? We'll have a sentence or two everyone will say (any suggestions?), maybe add your own sentence for a clue? I dunno... what say ye?

  Do you have a sound card (speakers plugged into your computer)? If so, you just need to get a mic and plug it into your system, and use a sound recorder to record the sound (I can give you a full explanation if you tell me what OS you are running).

      XP has a program called Sound Recorder (Start Button > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment) that should do the trick.

Maybe we could use a phrase with no swearing? What about "Hi. I post on slashdot. I don't know what you're talking about, because I don't have an accent.". We could send in 2 files: 1 in our natural voices; 1 in a fake accent. This way we'll get to see how good we are @ faking.

Also, it would be better if we could find a way to rename the files so that you could participate as well. My suggestion would be to write a script that would rename them randomly

I think that people should definitely choose their own line to say, because what they say says as much about who it is as how they say it.

And I would participate. And not like the baby picture contest where I really, really meant to participate; I would actually do it this time. Promise.
