Journal Chacham's Journal: Review: Shrek 2, Van Helsing, Hidalgo (Quickies, No Spoiler)

Saw Shrek 2. While it had its moments, the overall movie was slow, to the point where watching the first one over again would have been more entertaining. The last twenty minutes or so, however, were absolutely fabulous. At that point, it wasn't just comedy, it was absolute genius. Also, the movie references were in abundance. I caught a few, but there must be many more that I missed. See if if you really want to see more Shrek, or are willing to watch an entire movie just for the ending.

I also saw Van Helsing. After a friend went to see it, I thought I'd check it out. It has a lot of eye candy, and the story isn't bad. A nice movie if you want to see one, but if you miss it, you won't feel too bad. While unlike Spiderman, because it was a good movie, it will soon be forgotten. Though, it had a couple cute lines. See it if you want to watch a movie, and do not want to be bored at all.

Finally, there was Hidalgo. What's the movie about? A horse race. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although they came close, there was no kissing or the like in the movie, which to me already means it was a good movie, as they tried relying on the story for once, without using other enticements. (Though, they are not completely clean in this area.) The setting was done well, and as unbelieveable as the story was, they did a good job presenting it. The main character is a good guy, but down to earth, and the story tries to get you involved. See it if you want to see a good movie.

Ugh, three movies in such a short time. I feel stuffed. Not satiated, but that sickly stuffed feeling one gets from eating too much fat.
