Conservative Challenge: What's Wrong With Homoseuxals?

  • I was talking to an old friend of mine, and he starting spouting off "cultlike relgious speak" at me on why he couldn't take a low end job so he could afford to pay for his wife and daughter.

    This guy has been my friend for a long time, and I just don't get him. His daughter has medical issues that have to be kept insured otherwise she'll end up excluded from future benefits. He's been unemployed for over 2 years in the last 3, and is almost out of savings from the last contract job he had. His excuse?
    • People who cling to religion do so out of fear. I recall going out to lunch after church circa 1976 with my grandparents. They were protestant fundamentalists who belonged to the First Assemblies of God. I would go with my grandparents and their friends to this local buffet. I was about nine years old at the time. This group was a very odd bunch, but very indidcative of most fundies. They would sit there talking about various things. But whenever some younger folks came into the buffet who didn't loo
  • You can't exclude the religious angle or the dumb hick angle. They're perfectly valid "reasons" from that person's perspective regarding the "problem" with homosexuals.

    The issue is that these "reasons" are not valid proofs for external individuals, yet they continue to browbeat everyone within earshot as if they were. They attempt to influence policy that affects external individuals as if they were.

    If you want to believe that homosexuals are wrong for being who they are, fine. But, if you come up to me a
