Just got the dreaded AUP from Comcast.It bothers me that they advertise unlimited, and than claim that i download 100 times the national median. How do they get this median,. and doesn't that include dial up? And, worst of all, if the "median" is 1/100 of what i download, than why are they even selling high-bandwith? There wouldn't be a market for it.

The worst part of this is their audacity.

To avoid future violations of the AUP for exceeding bandwidth limitations, we recommend that you immediately review and change your Internet usage activities.

I should change my *service*, not my activities. Their atitude really bothers me.

I'm thinking of sending them a letter back. I'm playing the idea in my mind of suing them for false advertising.

Either way, looks like i may be needed a "business" account soon.

Have they given you the magic "bandwidth limit", or are you just supposed to divine this number out of mid-air.
You can't comply with their terms of service if you don't know what they are....

But like you, I don't know what the median is. I 'illegally' have httpd, smtp, sshd, and a few other services running on my 'illegally' shared network configuration behind an 'illegal' hardware firewall to 'illegal' computer (Linux, Solaris, SGI et al).

If only there was some competition in the marketplace, but unfortunately, like you, I may have to upgrade to the higher end account with Comcast.

  If i upgrade, it will not be with Comcast. If i leave, it's because they have falsely advertised. I'll probably switch my mother as well, if i found a comparable price elsewhere.
