Original Sin: "There is No United States Without Slavery"

  • This has been my argument for a long time. Americans are always waiting for the end to racism, but a country that is born with slavery - that had slavery institutionalized by it's founding fathers - has a blot that does not wash out.

    I'm convinced that no amendments to the Constitution can ever erase the stink of what this country was from it's very beginnings. The sooner we learn to live with that and deal with it honestly, the better off we'll be in the long run.
