Like I stated in the JE, I'd expected some Catholic bashing, but I'd expected it to center around the celibacy thing. Of course, I'd also expected it to be more informed...

It certainly seems the case that Christians in general, and Catholics more than most (if less than Evangelicals) have been considered a ``fair target'' in popular culture for long enough that the peanut gallery don't seem to think they need have the benefit of evidence or even a well-formed position before they start making wild accusations.

Not really a surprise, I suppose, but a shame nonetheless. On the other hand, there are signs of change in the air, so we'll see. The country as a whole is getting
