Journal DoctorScooby's Journal: Simple Improvement to Slashdot Moderation! 2

No more anonymous moderation or meta-moderation.

This transparency will guarantee that editorial and troll abuse *as well as the use of Mayfair* will be easily identifiable. It would be a simple hack to the Slashcode to allow clicking on a score to see who moderated it up or down, and perhaps logs could be kept and *opened to the public*.

Why not take this step towards true openness? I challenge the Slashdot editors to prove their intentions honestly and without deceptive hiding behind their god-mode powers and anonymous silence.

Is this a troll? I think not.

  • I think the main effect this will have is to allow people to see who moderated them will make it easy for people to vindictively downmod people who downmodded them, and to favor people who modded them up. I can't imagine the ability to see who moderated will really be used in any other way.
