Got smashed by the flu on monday night.. through till wed night.. was fast and furious.. I seem to be over the flu now but I'm still getting headspins etc etc from what I guess is dehydration etc.

My counterpart (JWC ;-) at the other big site made a god almight fuckup and has wrecked his network.. 24 hours later and its still down.. no work done at all because his PDC, BDC and main file servers are RS (rat shit ;-).

I've helped them out a little with a few bits and pieces, but ultimately my site needs me more, besides our sorta "boss" and "spiritual leader" is over there working hard to fix it up.. they don't need too many of "me" type people there.. we'll just get under each others feet.

I can't believe what they've told me..
The guy had some unknown issue, didn't ring any of the other staff and decided to re-install win2k server over the top of the PDC.
Realized that that wasn't working so grabbed a backup copy of the system directory and restored THAT over the top of the re-install. Big problem there is that :
A) that backup was 5 months old!! (his backups haven't been reliable..)
B) the restored version was an older service pack version than what he had on the server!

What a bloody nightmare.

I should think that, that will be the nail in his coffin.. the old guy will have to go back to shearing sheep.
