Hot water heaters, like boilers and furnaces are usually set in the darkest, dingiest, and dirtiest part of our homes. They are ignored and forgotten about until the first day we don't have any hot water. If we don't maintain a hot water heater, we may have to purchase a new one before we should. The most common types of hot water heaters used in homes are electric and gas. Electric hot water heaters heat with electric heating elements. When water reaches the desired temperature, the elements shut off. Gas hot water heaters have burners located at the bottom of the unit, which heat the water. These have a gas pilot light that stays lit; when the water drops below the desired temperature, the gas valve opens and the burnerâ(TM)s fire. There are systems that utilize a boiler to heat the water. The problem with these systems is that if the boiler is not working, there will not be any hot water until the boiler is repaired or replaced. Hire the Manhattan water heater repair professionals if something goes wrong.

Tankless hot water heaters heat water as it is used. Hot water heaters should last ten to twenty years on average. Occasionally flushing out your hot water heater will extend its life, clear much of the deposited sediment that accumulates at the bottom of the tank, and lessen the chance of bacteria and rust formation. If you have an electric hot water heater, turn off its circuit breaker. With a gas hot water heater, turn off the gas and pilot. Attach a long hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the hot water heater and open the hose bib, letting the water run outdoors until it runs clear. Close the hose bib and disconnect the hose. Turn on the circuit breaker. Allow approximately 20-30 minutes for the water to heat up before using any hot water. These above mentioned manhattan water heater repair tips could help to solve minor problems.
