Journal mraymer's Journal: Fucking Moderators 2

So, if you look here: http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=78130&cid=6936 487 you will see that I got modded down into oblivion for posting a reference that someone else posted seven minutes sooner.

Words cannot express my frustration. Excuse me, fuckers, but which one of you, when my post was already at 0, decided, "Hey, someone might see this and laugh twice, better mod it down a little more!"

This is a perfect example of what is wrong with Slashdot's moderation system.

This has pissed me off enough that I've considered ditching this user name and going back to feidaykin full time.

It seems that people only care about your UID and your karma bonus. If you post with a karma bonus, you tend to get modded down more. If you post with a high ID, you get modded down more. mraymer has both, so he's fux0red.

feidaykin has neither... but after a few months of posting that might change.

So, thanks moderators. Thanks for taking the time to take your hand off your penis long enough to click the "Moderate" button when my post was already at 0.

Thanks for fucking nothing.

So someone posted the same thing as a previous post. It happens, don't waste your modpoints on it, mod an interesting post up instead!

Even so, there are people who spend their entire modpoints modding decent posts down as Overrated. I don't know if Slashdot does,
    • I happen to agree with you 110% percent. I wasn't sure anyone would comment on this, but I'm glad I'm not the only one that sees it this way.

I've noticed that the vast majority of moderators play "follow the leader" it seems. Posts are likely to be modded in the same direction as the previous moderation, even if a post doesn't deserve that moderation to begin with.

I was too slow, and I didn't see the comment before I posted mine. And for that, I get a loss of karma, and a big fat -1, Redundant on my
